NU Warning

Norwich Union writes to warn Motor Traders and FleetsNorwich Union (NU) have written to their Motor Trade and Unspecified Schedule Motor Fleet Policyholders in connection with the MID. Kevin Edwards, the Head of Motor at NU, describes the likely fines and the impact on the renewal of the policy (for example, under worse terms or with increased premiums) that will result if the Policyholder does not submit their data to the Motor Insurance Database. Click here to print a copy of the letter NU distinguish between at least 6 types of policy for MID purposes, grouped in to two major groups Group A Group B Group A policies must have their vehicle details updated effectively on an "as and when" basis via the local NU branch. To comply with the EU 4th Directive, each vehicle change must be notified "immediately" to the local NU branch, in writing, for them to update NU's own systems, which then update the MID. If you are unsure as to whether or not a policy is in Group A or Group B, you should check with your local NU branch (NU's "route 1"). Group B policies must be updated directly by accessing Experian's website on the MID (NU's "route 2"). How can MDS help? We do not distinguish between Group A and Group B - any of your clients may submit data to us, and we will arrange to fax these to the local NU branch if they are Group A. This means that there is no administrative overhead for you to include your customers in our supply service. We can take the data in any format, including email, Excel, paper, fax or other means. Should your client have several branches or depots, we can combine these. Should your client have more than 1 policy (e.g. Motor Fleet and SDH, or Commercial Vehicle and Private Car), perhaps with different insurers, we can ensure that the right data is sent under the right policy number. This means that, for your customers, there's no need to duplicate work in submitting periodic declarations as well We can supply you with periodic declaration printouts, and allow you to view all of your client's data on line, under a single log in. Our systems retain accurate and complete records up to 7 years in archive form to allow your clients to fully comply in the event of an audit or challenge. What's available to Brokers If you are a broker and are considering offering an MID solution to your clients, talk to us first - we can provide cost-effective, tailored solutions which allow you to supply either an improved service or fee-based additional product to your clients.
