MDS offers services to customers who use all MID websites (those provided by Allianz Cornhill, Royal and Sun Alliance {RSA} and Zurich, as well as the main MIDupdate site). As a component of this, we maintain an issue list for each of the websites we use. Towards the end of 2004, we identified a problem with the usage of the RSA web site when uploading files with more than 10 vehicles. The RSA web site displays the results of an upload of more than 10 vehicles as a file in a separate window, which must be viewed or downloaded, and then acknowledged. If the file is not downloaded or viewed in a separate window, the upload cannot proceed. This worked fine until we upgraded last year to Windows XP Service Pack 2 (XP SP2). This stopped the ability of the RSA servlet to open a child window - this was a problem with the Java script being used which interacted with SP2's multitude of Security Features. Our workaround was to send files with just a few vehicles, but for certain customers this became a major logistical issue. We therefore investigated various solutions, and the simplest is as follows: - Go to www.mozilla.org Firefox can be safely installed alongside the normal Windows IE Browser and then deployed only for the RSA situation. |
